The Lone Tree.... Cleeve Hill

Updated: Apr 27, 2022

This is my first finished artwork of 2022. The original was created in Mixed Media using fine ink pen, Prismacolour pencils, vintage books and vintage lace.

The lone Tree is a local landmark and is sitiated on Cleeve Hill, Gloucestershire. This Lone Tree /windswept Tree has become a memorial tree where plaques can be added to the low wall/benches surrounding the tree in memory of loved ones. It is managed by Cleeve Common trust and donations from installing a memory plaque help towards management of the hill.

My late son, James used to love to walk here and it was in fact the last walk I ever had with him....My artwork is based on a photograph I have from that walk. This place will hold a special place in my heart and I wanted to capture something of that in my artwork. It is an artwork that I have wanted to create for years but it has taken time to be able to do so!

I have added text to my artwork. Around the edges it reads' He sits in the evening twilight, His head is bent and grey. He seems to hear a long-hushed voice and he bows his head and prays."

''ll be seeing you in every lovely summer's day''

"I'll be looking at the moon- but Ill be seeing you"

There is also text running through the trunk and branches of the tree.

I shall be selling Giclee prints of this work with matching greetings cards which I shall be adding to my online shop here soon.
